News December 2007:
In February 2207 Tim Sund and jazz vocalist Daniel Mattar already recorded the Duoalbum A Mexican Story for Acoustical Mind Records in Leipzig (www.fwlstudios.com) . Then, invited by the German Embassy, they went to Mexico to open the Eurojazz Festival on March 2 followed by concerts in Monterrey, Saltillo and san Luis Potosí. After Sund's great solo success at Eurojazz 2006 both he and the Mexican audience were happy to meet again.
With Daniel Mattar he presented A Mexican Story - a Suite in 12 movements incorporating new arrangements of four famous Mexican boleros. Then they mixed Jazzstandards with classical Songs by Bach, Schubert and Schumann before everyone was carried away by their spontanious improvisations on themes given by the audience. The whole concert was filmed and later broadcasted by Mexican television.
Finally fall 2007 saw the release of the CD Kailash with Tom Christensen (tenor saxophone, English horn, oboe & bass clarinet) and Tomas Ulrich (cello), which was produced October 2006 in New York for Nabel Records. Composed by Sund especially for the trio this chamber music incorporates a wide range of stilistic influences, somewhere on the borderline between Jazz and Classical, improvisation and composition. In October the Kailash Trio performed at the Dresdener Tage für zeitgenössische Musik (Dresden days for contemporary music).
In 2008 the Trio will give performances in the United States as well as in Germany.
In spring 2008 Tim Sund will be involved in CD productions and concerts with Berlin singer Angela Gabriel as well as the Tobias Relenberg Quartet.
